Centre Talks – Do no harm: artificial intelligence, health care, and what comes next

The talk: Health care institutions and systems are moving to implement artificial intelligence (AI). What do we know about the contexts into which AI is being introduced? How can knowledge of these contexts help us assess the potential for AI to contribute to health and wellbeing? This talk will suggest selected ethical questions for clinical providers and AI researchers in health care contexts.

The speaker: LLana James is a public intellectual, organizer and scientist. Her career spans more than two decades in the public and private sector. Her research focuses on the ways in which technology, AI, medicine and health care systems work together with a focus on the implications for clinical settings, population health outcomes and research. She is completing her doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, RSI.
