Pansy Schulthess completed her undergraduate nursing degree and perioperative nursing certificate in British Columbia. She is currently enrolled at the University of Toronto and completing a Masters of Education. With over 20 years of clinical nursing experience, Pansy is currently the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Patient Safety for Perioperative Services at St. Michael’s Hospital. In collaboration with the inter-professional health care team and as a member of the Perioperative Incident Analysis Team, she assesses, develops, implements and evaluates patient safety programs with the goal to provide optimal patient care. Pansy is a Nursing Research Associate with the International Centre for Surgical Safety and the nursing lead for the Operating Room Black Box research initiative. Over the past two years, using data and video clips from the Operating Room Black Box she has developed and implemented themed nursing education sessions to review best practices in enhancing patient safety. Pansy has spoken at various local, national and international engagements regarding her nursing research and quality improvement initiatives.
