Keenan Research Seminar Series: Inflammation and Invasion in Oral Cancer: Insights from Spatial Transcriptomics

Dr. Marco Magalhaes, is a clinician-scientist and Associate Professor of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is a staff oral pathologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and serves as Program Director of the Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology Residency Program at the University of Toronto.  His research focuses on the mechanisms driving malignant transformation of oral lesions, with an emphasis on tumor invasion, inflammatory signaling pathways, and translational biomarkers. Integrating clinical diagnostics with advanced spatial and molecular approaches, his work aims to enable early detection and disease interception in oral cancer, improving patient outcomes and advancing precision oral health care.
