The Research Training Centre invites you to join us for our next installment of the RTC Essentials Series to hear from Dr. Mirjana Jerkic MD, PhD, a Senior Research Associate for Biobank and in Dr. Ori Rotstein Lab.
This session introduces the core principles of strong research practice, from good data management and lab‑notebook habits to applying FAIR and STAR frameworks for transparency and reproducibility. We’ll also discuss responsible AI use in scientific writing and outline Tri‑Agency expectations for data management plans and data sharing.

2) Steps in data journey – in order to publish the paper and avoid erratum, paper retractions & scientific misconducts
2) FAIR principles of data management: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable
3) Best practices of research data management (RDM) and importance of Lab notebooks
4) STAR methods
5) AI use in scientific writing
6) SSHRC, NSERC, & CIHR (Tri-Agency) data management plan & policies
7) Data sharing for research data collected through the use of public funds.
