Become a Research Volunteer

Research volunteers are individuals, including students, who apply to a Unity Health supervisor at the hospital to volunteer their time for a hospital-based research project or program. Research volunteers have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with research conducted in a laboratory and/or clinical setting, under the supervision of a principal investigator (PI). Students who are in a placement at the hospital for academic credit or under an approved placement program are not considered research volunteers.

Age Requirement: Research volunteers and visitors must be at least 18 years of age. Exceptions may be considered for 16 and 17-year-old applicants. Please contact ORAResearch@unityhealth.to in advance of starting the registration process.

** Volunteers are required to undergo a criminal record check. This check will be conducted by a 3^rd party through the Office of Research Administration and there is no need to arrange it beforehand.
