Bio

Dr. Arthur McLuhan is currently an Adjunct Scientist at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of Unity Health Toronto and a Senior Research Associate in the Justice & Equity Lab at MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions. A Sociologist and Community-Engaged Researcher, his research examines the patterns of interaction that shape involvement, identity, and inequality, with a focus on the interactional contingencies that contribute to health inequities among underserved populations.

An important focus of his work involves collaborating with community partners, including persons with lived expertise, to develop and evaluate interventions to improve social justice and health equity, such as a digital health tool for self-managing problem gambling in the context of poverty and homelessness (see https://unityhealth.to/2023/04/app-for-gambling-concerns/).
