Bio

Dr. Brandon Tang is an Assistant Professor (Clinician Educator) in the Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto. He currently leads the GEMINI MedED initiative which aims to leverage "big data" from electronic health records for the purposes of resident feedback, learning, and assessment.

Brandon’s primary scholarly interest is the intersection of medical education and quality improvement. He previously served as a TEDx speaker and is a Founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief of Vancouver Notes, a novel medical textbook for internal medicine. He previously published a landmark systematic review on Clinical Teaching Unit design, a critical priority in medical training across Canada.

He has served as a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on numerous peer-reviewed grants at the local, provincial, and national levels. He has completed master’s degrees in Systems Leadership and Innovation (University of Toronto) and Medical Education (Harvard Medical School). His additional medical education training includes: Clinician Scholar fellowship at The HoPingKong Centre (University of Toronto), Maudsley Fellowship at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators in Health Professions.
