Bio

Dr. Fischer is a staff psychiatrist and director of Geriatric Psychiatry at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health. She is an associate scientist and co-director of Neurodegenerative Research at the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science. She has an academic appointment as Full Professor at the University of Toronto in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry. She is an associate editor of the Journal of Alzheimer’s disease, on the editorial board of International Psychogeriatrics and has served as immediate past academic chair and chair of the Neuropsychiatric Symptom Professional Interest Area ISTAART in addition to being a member of several national/international organizations. Dr. Fischer’s main clinical and research focus centres around neuropsychiatric symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease and their clinical, imaging and pathological correlates. She is a principal investigator for a number of peer-reviewed and industry sponsored grants, including a multi-centred study of photobiomodulation therapy in MCI and Alzheimer’s disease, and has authored over one hundred and forty peer-reviewed papers.
