Lee Rosen graduated from Queen’s University School of Rehabilitation MScOT Program in 2014 and has completed the Advanced Clinic Practitioner in Arthritis/Musculoskeletal Care (ACPAC) training program from UofT’s Continuing Professional Development in 2017. He has worked as an Occupational Therapist at Kingston General Hospital and Lakeridge Health prior to joining St. Michael's Hospital in 2015. Starting in the Outpatient Mobility Program, he has worked in the hand therapy program and as an advanced practitioner assessing and treating Rheumatology, Orthopaedics and Plastics Surgery patients. He has also worked in the acute and critical care units across the hospital, developing a new corporate coverage float model for health discipline practice for inpatient care. In 2021, Lee transitioned from clinical practice into management within the Interprofessional Practice Department at Unity Health Toronto as one of the Managers of Collaborative Practice & Education. In this role, Lee supports clinical practice, professional development, interprofessional-based research and student education for health discipline clinicians. Lee is also the operations manager of the Health Disciplines Resource Team, leading a team of clinicians that work across all inpatient units, 7 days-per-week at St. Michael’s and St. Joseph’s.
Lee is passionate about learning and interdisciplinary education. He co-developed the Health Disciplines Emerging Leaders Fellowship for leadership professional development, and supported the development of curriculum within Unity Health’s Centre for Interprofessional Education. Taking a conscious effort on his social location, he has actively participated in education and initiatives related to health equity and social accountability, including hosting regular Interprofessional education opportunities with content experts on topics such as critical allyship, anti-abelism, anti-Black racism in the health care context, and Indigenous wellness within hospital settings). He is also a lecturer for University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine in both the Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy (OS&OT) program, Rheumatology Medicine program, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program.
Lastly, Lee has supported research focused on clinical areas of practice (exercise models for cardiac rehabilitation, outcome measure utilization for hand therapy, inflammatory disease rapid assessment models, standardized myopathy care models). More recently, he has shifted is research practice to focus on healthcare workers’ personal well-being and mental health, hospital models of care planning, and evaluating healthcare leadership development education/training. His goal is to evaluate our existing healthcare systems to develop new models that better serve our staff and patients/families/community, and the successful development of future leaders in a hospital organization.
