Sérgio Pereira

Dr. Pereira is an anesthesiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital and an assistant professor at the University of Toronto in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He is trained in anesthesiology and earned his PhD at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.

His current research interest centers on perioperative medicine, with a particular focus on acute pain management. He recognizes the potential of advancing postoperative pain strategies to address the opioid crisis. In addition, he is actively engaged in multiple studies on perioperative hemodynamic optimization using goal-directed protocols to enhance patient outcomes.
