Bio

Surain Roberts is the Scientific Lead of GEMINI, Canada’s largest hospital clinical data research network and one of few such examples globally. GEMINI collects detailed clinical and administrative data from electronic health records at >35 Ontario hospitals. Surain holds an Assistant Professor (Affiliated Scientist) position at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto and is course co-director for HAD5306H. He completed his PhD at the University of Toronto.

Surain is a health outcomes researcher and biostatistician whose work spans multiple clinical areas. His current research leverages administrative and electronic health record data to learn about quality of inpatient care, risk adjustment methods to assess quality of hospital care, and development & evaluation of prediction tools to inform risk stratification.
