Incoming Graduate Trainees and Postdoctoral Fellows

A Graduate Trainee is a student enrolled in a thesis-based Master's or PhD degree program. Their primary supervisor must be a scientist at Unity Health Toronto or a faculty member at Toronto Metropolitan University affiliated with the iBEST Program.

  • MSc Trainee: Any student with a bachelor’s degree, pursuing additional education typically within 2 years.

  • PhD Trainee: Any student with a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree pursuing additional education typically within 5-7 years.

A Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) holds a PhD or MD degree, undertaking temporary research work, typically lasting 2-3 years, under the guidance of a scientist. To qualify as a PDF, the individual must have earned their PhD or Medical degree within the past 6 years.
