RTC Team

Dr. Gaspard Montandon is the Director of the Research Training Centre. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist at St. Michael’s Hospital – Unity Health Toronto. His research combines neuroscience, pharmacology, and respiratory physiology to elucidate the mechanisms underlying opioid-induced respiratory depression and overdose.

Kayla Baker, Ph.D., is the interim Research Training Center Specialist at St. Michael’s Hospital. Prior to joining the RTC, Kayla advocated for graduate student needs and professional growth as the Chair of the St. Michael’s Research Student Association and supported medical residents as a member of the Core Internal Medicine program administration team at The Ottawa Hospital.

Dr. Sofiia Ivantsiv, PhD, is the Research Training Centre Specialist at St. Michael’s Hospital. Prior to joining the Research Training Centre, Sofiia has supervised and improved the educational experience of graduate students as a Project Associate – Team Lead at the Centre for Graduate Professional Development at the University of Toronto, as well as students from grades 1 to 12 in Toronto as a Senior Science Outreach Coordinator at SciHigh, LTRI.
