Caterina Di Ciano-Oliveira is an Adjunct Scientist and an Imaging Facility Specialist at the Keenan Research Center for Biomedical Science.
Caterina Di Ciano-Oliveira is an experienced and driven application scientist with over 20 years of employment in the field of biomedical research. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Toronto within the Institute of Medical Science and her fellowship at Sick Children’s Research Institute in the fields of cell biology and biochemistry. During her studies, she was supported by numerous awards, most notably a Canada Graduate Scholarship and a fellowship from the Ministry of Research and Innovation.
As the Imaging Facility Specialist, Caterina is an expert in numerous advanced light microscopy applications. She provides critical support to the research staff related to these applications from experimental design and data acquisition, through to quantitative data analysis and representation. Caterina is passionate about education and contributes greatly to the Research Core Facilities educational program, which to date, runs several unique courses for trainees in a broad range of basic science techniques. She plays an essential role in expanding the equipment and technologies available to the research community and is dedicated to training research staff on these new and innovative technologies to produce impactful discoveries.
