Biography

Dr. Ketan Shankardass is an Associate Scientist within MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions at St. Michael’s Hospital. He is a social epidemiologist who focuses on studying innovative solutions for more equitable health systems by using epidemiology, community health, biology and geography to understand the drivers of population health and equity from “cell to society”. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Wilfrid Laurier University and in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at University of Toronto. Outside of academic, Dr. Shankardass works with Health Promotion Ontario to improve preventive health practice in the province.

His foci currently include multisectoral health strategies including Health in All Policies; neighbourhood-level programs to address chronic stress and chronic disease health inequities; and public opinion on health and equity
