The St. Michael’s Hospital MRI Research Centre was founded using funds awarded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation and from the Ontario government (the Ontario Research Fund – Research Infrastructure via the Ministry of Research and Innovation). One of the primary aims of this centre is to develop and validate quantitative, surrogate imaging biomarkers for clinical outcomes in a wide range of diseases. This represents a major paradigm shift in clinical MRI research away from the study of MRI as a tool to diagnose disease, and towards its unique capabilities to also quantify subclinical disease with new imaging endpoints.
The MRI Research Centre has one dedicated Siemens 3T Skyra (VE11) scanner and one shared Philips 1.5T Achieva dStream (R5.3) scanner. For more information, please visit our Facilities and Capabilities page.
