Ornge is the sole provider of air medical transport and critical care transport (land and air) for severely injured patients in Ontario. They operate the largest air ambulance fleet in Canada, serving over 13 million people over one million square kilometers of land. Timely access to definitive care is a critical component of modern trauma systems and has been shown to improve patient outcomes after injury. Ornge plays an essential role in transporting injured patients to trauma centres across the province.
Dr. Nolan’s research interests are in improving access, reducing delays and enhancing care in the prehospital environment for injured patients. His most recent study seeks to understand the reasons behind cancelled trauma scene calls.
