Research Training Centre (RTC)

Welcome to the Research Training Centre at Unity Health Toronto. Our goal is to empower graduate trainees and postdoctoral fellows through outstanding research and professional development opportunities, nurturing the next generation of leaders.

About the RTC

The Research Training Centre (RTC) at Unity Health Toronto, comprising the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute (LKSKI) and the Keenan Centre for Biomedical Sciences (KRCBS), is located at the St. Michael’s Hospital site.

Unity Health Toronto has consistently ranked at the forefront in researcher intensity among Canada's largest hospitals, according to Research Infosource. This distinction reflects our scientists' remarkable productivity in generating life-saving knowledge. Our top rankings have been maintained since 2022.

As part of our community, you will join a diverse cohort of students and postdoctoral fellows engaged in cutting-edge translational scientific and applied health services research. Working alongside our outstanding world-renowned scientists, organized into four research pillars—Brain Health & Wellness, Organ Injury & Repair, Critical Care, and Urban and Community Health—you will have the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects.

At the RTC we provide support to over 250 graduate trainees (Master’s or PhD level) and Postdoctoral Fellows conducting research under the supervision of a Unity Health Toronto scientist. Additionally, we provide support to supervisors who participate in research training.

Our website serves as a hub for navigating trainee life, offering access to resources within Unity Health Toronto and beyond. We are committed to facilitating your success and development throughout your research journey.
