The Health Science Library offers two Microsoft PowerPoint courses:

  • PowerPoint Basics (see below for details)
  • PowerPoint Intermediate (see below for details)

PowerPoint Basics

PowerPoint Basics

PowerPoint is an important tool for communicating in academic, business, and research environments. This hands-on workshop will provide participants an opportunity to become familiar with the basic features of PowerPoint.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the class, participants will be able to create a basic PowerPoint presentation by:

  • Creating slides and adding new slides
  • Adding bulleted text
  • Inserting clip art and images
  • Using templates and slide designs
  • Changing slide layouts

Target Audience: Staff and students with little to no previous experience using PowerPoint

Duration: 1 hour

Prerequisite: Basic Computer Skills and mouse skills. Exposure to other Microsoft Office products, such as Word is recommended.

PowerPoint Intermediate

PowerPoint is an important tool for communicating in academic, business, and research environments. This hands-on workshop will provide participants an opportunity to become familiar with some more advanced features of PowerPoint.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the class, participants will be able to enhance their PowerPoint presentations by:

  • Managing images
  • Working with the Slide Master
  • Changing slide designs, colours and backgrounds
  • Adding basic animations
  • Target Audience: Staff and students with previous experience using PowerPoint

Duration: 1 hour

Prerequisite: Completion of the Health Sciences Library’s PowerPoint Basics workshop or experience using PowerPoint is recommended.
