The Molecular Biology/Genomics Core Facility houses instruments for next generation sequencing, RNA analysis and gene expression profiling which are available to researchers outside St. Michael’s Hospital on a fee-for-service basis. Prior to accessing the equipment, it is recommended to contact the Genomics Core Specialist in order in order to discuss the intended experiment(s) to identify any experimental considerations and which equipment is best suited to your needs.
Following this initial consultation, each researcher typically arranges an orientation and training with the Genomics Core Specialist. Each lab must fill out an external PI registration form or a sample registration form which are mostly intended to identify any biohazardous risk in the samples being run.
Once training is completed and you are able to proficiently use the equipment, you will get independent access. Equipment can be booked here.
The Molecular Core Facility has staff to assist in protocol development, experiment design and data analysis (using several analytical software packages) to ensure that your project runs as successfully as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us by email should you have any questions.
