In late 2010, more than 450 research employees and students from six sites moved into a new research space encompassing the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute and the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science. Research Facilities has been part of the planning process from the onset of the project, ensuring that our new state-of-the-art research facility meets the needs of all St Michael’s research staff.

In 2013, 30,000 sq. ft. of space was renovated at 250 Yonge St. Upon completion of construction, nine research groups consisting of approximately 165 people were moved from 193 Yonge St. to 250 Yonge St. This relocation was a fantastic opportunity to have these groups in closer proximity to each other; increasing interaction and collaboration.
Our 250 Yonge campus is home to: the Applied Health Research Centre, Research Ethics Board, Office of Research Administration, Injury Prevention, Musculoskeletal Health and Outcomes Research, Surgery Research, Pediatrics Research, and Health Economics, the Evaluation Centre for Complex Health Interventions and Choosing Wisely Canada.
193 Yonge St. continues to be a St. Michael’s Hospital site, housing a number of Research groups in approximately 27,000 sq ft. Most groups at 193 Yonge St. were moved into the building in 2014, relocating both from 229 Yonge St. and the Hospital’s main site. Relocating these groups from a number of areas into one building was a great opportunity to allow them much more integration into the research community.
193 Yonge St. is home to: Clinical Research groups (from 229 Yonge St.), Medical Imaging Research, Neurobehavioural Research, Suicide Studies Research and the Risk Factor Modification Centre (V. Vuksan).
