SMH Internal Scholarships and Awards

SMH-LKSKI Scholarship

The aim of LKSKI-SMH awards is to provide a partial salary support for excellent students in order to help them to perform research and obtain a degree through their work. The successful application will be provided with the award for one year.

  • The call for these scholarships come out in November with a submission deadline in January.
  • Who can apply? Research Training Centre graduate students (MSc/PhD programs)

RTC Travel Award

The aim of the RTC Travel Award is to provide funding to support travel of trainees in order to enhance their research training experience in the area of knowledge dissemination and sharing.

  • There are 12 travel awards available annually; 6 for the period of April – September and 6 for the period of October – March. See Travel Award Criteria for more details.
  • To apply: Please complete the RTC Travel Award Application Form and submit to rtc@smh.ca along with a copy of your conference abstract and notification of abstract acceptance.

Government of Canada Funding

Canada Student Loans

Financial assistance for post-secondary students in the form of loans and grants.

International Development Research Centre Research Awards 

Awards for Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries pursuing master’s or doctoral studies or having completed a master’s or doctoral program.

Post-Secondary Student Support Program 

Provides financial assistance to Status Indians or recognized Inuit for a range of post-secondary programs.

Grant for Students with Dependents 

A monthly grant for eligible full-time students with dependent children and assessed financial need.

Canadian Graduate Scholarships – Master’s Program

Scholarships for graduate students undertaking research either in health, natural sciences, engineering, social sciences or humanities.

University of Toronto Funding

The Master’s Completion Bursary (MCB) was formerly named the Master’s Tuition Fee Bursary (MTFB). The MCB is a financial aid program aimed to assist master’s students who must register beyond the program length required for their degree, in order to complete a minimal amount of work remaining due to unanticipated factors beyond their control.

Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s Program

The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s (CGS M) Program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.

The scholarship is open to female Canadian citizens currently enrolled in any year of undergraduate or graduate study at a Canadian college or university.

There are 59 prizes, and first prize is $25,000!
